What Is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction?

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) helps participants to explore themselves non-judgmentally, learn grounding techniques through breath work, and learn to respond to conflict and stressors through mindfulness. Participants get to participate in various grounding and breath work practices to explore what works best for them while learning about communication, habitual stress response, and assumptions about the world.

Why Practice Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of presence. Research has found that MBSR is a meditation-therapy that can be used in the treating of a variety of illnesses such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, skin and immune disorders. Furthermore, it has been found that MBSR can help with various clinical and non-clinical problems, and helps participants increase quality of life.

Practicing presence through mindfulness has been found to decrease rumination, increase confidence and self-esteem, decrease stress and anxiety, increase quality of sleep, and reduce stress.
